Fall appointments book quickly as Edina residents prepare for winter. We recommend scheduling maintenance in September or early October, well before you’ll need reliable heat. During power outages—common during Minnesota winter storms—you’ll appreciate knowing whether your gas fireplace can operate without electricity.
How Edina’s Climate Affects Your Fireplace
Minnesota weather creates unique challenges for gas fireplaces. Cold temperatures, humidity fluctuations, and extended heating seasons all impact performance and maintenance needs.
Edina experiences approximately 165 days when home heating is necessary. From late October through early April, your fireplace may run daily. This extended use accelerates wear on components like gas valves and ignition systems. Summer humidity can cause corrosion in gas lines and affect electronic controls.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does gas fireplace cleaning cost in Edina?
Standard cleaning and safety inspection typically ranges from $150 to $225, depending on your system’s condition and accessibility. Annual maintenance plan members receive discounted rates. We provide upfront pricing before starting work, and there’s never a charge for estimates on repairs.
When should I schedule fireplace maintenance in Edina?
September and early October are ideal times for pre-season maintenance. This timing ensures your fireplace is ready when temperatures drop in late October. If you missed fall maintenance, early spring cleaning removes accumulated debris before summer storage. Many homeowners schedule biannual service for heavily used fireplaces.
What are signs my gas fireplace needs repair?
Watch for difficulty igniting, weak or discolored flames, unusual odors, excessive soot on glass, or the pilot light frequently going out. Strange sounds like popping or whistling indicate potential problems. Carbon monoxide detectors that activate near your fireplace require immediate professional attention.
How often should gas fireplaces be professionally cleaned?
Annual cleaning is the industry standard for regular use. Edina’s extended heating season means your fireplace works harder than in milder climates. Homes where the fireplace runs daily during winter may benefit from biannual service. Even infrequently used units need inspection every 1-2 years for safety.
Do you service all gas fireplace brands?
Yes, our technicians service all major manufacturers including Heat & Glo, Napoleon, Heatilator, Regency, Mendota, and others popular in Hennepin County homes. We maintain relationships with parts suppliers to quickly obtain components for both current models and older systems. If you’re curious about whether gas fireplace keys are universal, we can help with that too.

Excellent work. Our fireplace is working perfectly now.
Pretty good experience overall. Scheduled online which was convenient. Tech showed up right at the beginning of the appointment window. He was efficient and did a thorough cleaning of our fireplace including vacuuming out all the dust from the burner assembly and polishing the glass doors. The fireplace definitely looks cleaner and is operating smoothly. Lost one star because there was a small scratch on our hearth tile when he was done - might have been there before but I'm not sure. Didn't seem worth making a big deal about. Would probably use them again tho.
Overall pretty satisfied with the service. Tech arrived on time and did a good job cleaning out our gas fireplace insert. It hadn't been serviced in probably 5 years (oops) so there was quite a bit of dust and debris buildup. He got everything cleaned up nicely and tested all the safety features. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the price seemed a little high compared to quotes I got from other companies, but you get what you pay for I guess. The fireplace is working great now and looks brand new.
